Gratitude Journal: Merry and Bright

We need a little Christmas!

From driving around town, it looks like world agrees; we need a little Christmas, right this very minute! Lights are up, trees are strapped to the roofs of cars, and our locally sourced kissing balls and wreaths are flying off the porch – be sure to pick yours up this weekend.

The idea that we can smother out COVID19 with holiday lights, good cheer, and great food is implausible, but worth a try! After 10 months(!) with COVID at the forefront of our minds, our spirits need a lift! Stop in at Barstow’s Dairy Store and Bakery for a mood boost. We have homemade apple pie ala mode, buckets of hot soup, and decadent whoopie pies served up by our friendly farmstand staff.

Whether you need a little Christmas, a little Hanukkah, a little Kwanzaa, Ōmisoka, or Solstice, know that you are welcome at Barstow’s Dairy Store and Bakery. The health and safety of our Barstow’s community, customers and staff, remains our top priority. With an uptick of cases in the state, the Barstow’s team continues to be vigilant with sanitizing high traffic areas, preparing food safely, and so. much. hand washing.

Shop Local

Barstow’s Dairy Store and Bakery is open for drive thru service, indoor dining, and indoor shopping. Your local farmstand is loaded with wonderful gifts for the special people in your life. Browse gifts from local artisans like jewelry, wood crafts, books, and artwork. For the Barstow’s Fan, pick up a Barstow’s gift certificate, coffee mug, or T-shirt. Desserts make a great gift for those who are hard to shop for: think cookies, cheesecakes, or chocolate gluten free cupcakes.

Pies and dessert platters make a great holiday gift for your hardworking team. Show your appreciation to your staff, teachers, coworkers with homemade sweets. More details on our website here. Please get in touch to place a customizable order! 413-586-2142 or info@barstowslongviewfarm.com.

This year, give the gift of food grown by the people in your community and raised from the land you call home. Farm fresh gifts like Barstow Beef Bundles, Cabot cheese, syrup, and honey, do more than just taste great – they preserve open space, protect habitat, and sustain heritage in your hometown. Now THAT is a great gift!

For a limited time, Barstow’s farm raised ground beef and ground beef patties are on sale: 10% off of 10lbs (or more!). Each package is ~1lb.

Holiday Eats

It is never too early to place your holiday orders. Dessert orders to be picked up on Christmas Eve must be placed by Sunday, December 20 before 3pm. This includes pies, cheesecakes, cakes, mini dessert platters, and baked goods. Prepared food orders, however, must be placed by December 18 for pick up on Tuesday, December 22. This means mashed potatoes, roasted veggies, casseroles, lasagnas, etc. Orders need to be placed and picked up earlier. Need your side dish on Christmas Eve? Pick up will only be available between 2pm and 3pm on 12/24. Thank you for your understanding; this helps us with kitchen efficiency and sanity (something in short supply around the holidays!).

The holidays will look different this year, but you can still expect the same quality and care from your neighborhood dairy farm. Each order is made with the same attention that Grandma Barstow had in her holiday kitchen. That’s a tradition, that’s who we are. Placing your orders and picking up is fast, easy, and safe. Let Barstow’s Dairy Store and Bakery be a part of your new traditions. We’d be delighted to do the baking and the cooking!

Taking on the kitchen yourself this holiday season? The best bakers use the best ingredients! Pick up Cabot cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, whipped cream, and butter along with local milk, eggs, ice cream, beef, coffee, maple syrup, and honey. Coming soon: Mapleline EGG NOG.

And you waited patiently for it… the Barstow Soup CSA returns in January! Sign up now!

Merry and Bright

During the holiday season, our thoughts turn gratefully to those who have made our success possible this year. 2020 has been unexpected on every level: the pandemic, the serious hit to the price of milk, the forced reduction of our herd… the unparalleled support and sales at the farmstand, the chance for us to grow our prepared food offerings, the opportunity to serve our community fresh, local food in a time of crisis. We would like to express our sincerest appreciation for the trust you have placed in us here at Barstow’s Dairy Store and Bakery and Barstow’s Longview Farm. From our family to yours, may your holidays and New Year be filled with joy, love, and great food!
With Gratitude,
Steve, David, Steven, Shannon, Kelly, and Denise Barstow
