Don’t Cry Over Spilled Milk?

Today, February 11, is National Don’t Cry Over Spilled Milk Day.

Most would consider this as a day to stay positive, to look on the bright side, and to not let the little things get you down!

However, for New England dairy farmers, their outlook isn’t so sunny.  Amid appallingly low milk prices, we opened our milk check last week to find a list of suicide hot-line numbers.

The Agri-Mark Cabot Cooperative sent this letter to farmers across New England.  Low milk prices have been tied with farmer suicides.

Read more about this and listen to the story on NEPR.

In the meantime, we will keep our head up – keep farming the land we love and providing food for the community we know.

Thank you for your support in this difficult time!  You can support your neighborhood dairy farm by visiting their local farm-stands or by buying milk and any other dairy products at your grocery store!
