On Tuesday, October 13, a rainy morning, New England Dairy, a regional nonprofit, filmed a LIVE virtural tour with Denise Barstow at Barstow’s Longview Farm in Hadley, MA. The target audience for this video is students in grads 3-5 – but we think everyone will enjoy it! Check it out:
Using video chat technology, students got a behind the scenes look into life on a New England dairy farm.
Denise Barstow is a 7th generation family member at Barstow’s Longview Farm. The Barstow family has farmed on their land in Hadley, MA since 1806 and remains committed to caring for their community, land, animals, and the planet. Today the dairy farm has milking robots, an anaerobic digester that converts cow manure into an energy source, and a dairy store and bakery for their community. Barstow’s is a member of the Cabot Cheese Cooperative where they turn milk into award winning cheeses and dairy products.
Even though this live event is over, you can always ask your dairy questions at your neighborhood dairy farm. Email info@barstowslongviewfarm.com with your questions or to set up an in-person farm tour.
