In line with our commitment to producing the highest quality milk, Barstow’s Longview Farm recently received a generous Local Farmer Award from the Harold Grinspoon Charitable Foundation to purchase the Lely MQC-C2.
The Lely MQC-C2 is an add-on piece of equipment to a Lely Robot Milker. The equipment tests milk fat, protein, milk conductivity, temperature, and more, for each cow. This additional data supports the farmer in animal health management decisions which we expect will decrease vet bills and increase milk quality.
In an industry where the price we receive for our product is increasing out of our control, this tool gives us data and information to make us more competitive and better herdsman.
Thank you to the Harold Grinspoon Charitable Foundation for this gift and for recognizing that farming is essential to our community. The stated goal of this program is to strengthen local farmers’ ability to compete in the marketplace so that our region benefits from the environmental, health and economic advantages of local farming.
