Volunteers walked our farmland early yesterday morning in search of birds for the annual Audubon Christmas Bird Count. The Christmas Bird Count happens annually in December around the nation.

17 Hooded Merganser
7 Common Merganser

4 (!!) Bald Eagle
1 Northern Harrier
1 Red-bellied Woodpecker
5 Downy Woodpecker
2 Blue Jay
1 American Crow
3 Black-capped Chickadee
6 Golden-crowned Kinglet
4 White-breasted Nuthatch
2 Brown Creeper
1 Carolina Wren
4 Eastern Bluebird
2 American Robin
8 American Goldfinch
1 American Tree Sparrow
1 Dark-eyed Junco
2 White-throated Sparrow
9 Song Sparrow
2 Northern Cardinal
And a Partridge in a Pear Tree!*

Please note that the volunteers received permission before the Bird Count and do so each year. Our farmland is for feeding our herd (and clearly many birds!), it is not for recreation. We thank you very much for your respect.
