Thank you!  \nOur educational farm tour is geared toward adults. This walking tour is just under 1/4 of a mile and involves hills\, uneven terrain\, mud\, and weather. Please dress accordingly for the weather\, most of the tour is outdoors. Tour will happen rain or shine.

You bought a muffin. \nWhether this is your first time visiting\, or you’re at Barstow’s every day\, thank you.\nYour purchases\, great and small\, keep our family farming. Which means you are keeping farmland undeveloped\, supporting your local economy\, and allowing the next generation of this community to grow up with dirt on their feet and sun on their face. \nYour business matters. Complete and submit your Dairy Crawl Passport by June 30 to be entered to win!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nWe farmers have been friends and neighbors for generations.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe all face similar challenges – development of farmland\, difficulty finding reliable labor\, and razor thin profit margins. We borrow equipment from one another\, trade tips and feedback\, and lend a helping hand. While not all of the participating farmstands are dairy farms\, it is a longstanding tradition to support our neighbors and sustain agriculture in the Pioneer Valley. \nThe milk price is currently so low that it does not cover a dairy farm’s cost of doing business. We’ve opened farmstands to diversify our businesses so that we can continue to do what we love: create local\, wholesome food for our community. DESCRIPTION:At Barstow’s\, every day is Chocolate Chip Cookie Day! We celebrate year round…. \nBut National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day is celebrated on August 4!\nShannon\, head baker and seventh generation Barstow\, prepares chocolate chip cookies at Barstow’s Dairy Store and Bakery\, daily\, using Grandma Barstow’s recipe. Shannon spent hours in the kitchen with Grandma while she was growing up. Today\, her dream to be a baker is very much a reality at her family’s 216 year old dairy farm! Grandma Barstow passed away in 2017\, but her legacy lives on in many ways – including the recipe book at Barstow’s. \nGrandma kept a diary of her life beginning at age 13.  The entries recount her daily routines\, doing the wash\, mopping the floors\, visiting with family\, baking cookies\, pies\, or cakes.  In October of 1994 she notes that she’s made 10\,000 cookies so far – just in that year. \nCelebrate the most popular cookie of all time at your neighborhood dairy farm on August 4 (and everyday!).
