DESCRIPTION:Local farmstands in Hadley\, South Hadley\, and Sunderland are celebrating June with the Dairy Month Dairy Crawl!\nVisit the participating farmstands: Barstow’s Dairy Store and Bakery\, Maple Valley Creamery’s Scoop at the Silos\, McCray’s Country Creamery\, Flayvors of Cook Farm\, North Hadley Sugar Shack and Market\, and Smiarowski’s Farmstand and Creamy; and purchase an ice cream to get your Dairy Crawl passport stamped between Memorial Day Weekend and the Fourth of July. \nJune is Dairy Month. Complete and submit your Dairy Crawl Passport by July 4 to be entered to win!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nWe farmers have been friends and neighbors for generations.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe all face similar challenges – development of farmland\, difficulty finding reliable labor\, and razor thin profit margins. We borrow equipment from one another\, trade tips and feedback\, and lend a helping hand. While not all of the participating farmstands are dairy farms\, it is a longstanding tradition to support our neighbors and sustain agriculture in the Pioneer Valley. \nThe milk price is currently so low that it does not cover a dairy farm’s cost of doing business. We’ve opened farmstands to diversify our businesses so that we can continue to do what we love: create local\, wholesome food for our community. DESCRIPTION:Updated 5/3/24: With the incoming rain on Sunday\, the farmers need all hands and equipment available on Saturday to get the crops in. For this reason\, there will be NO WAGON FARM TOURS offered on Pasture Day. We are sorry for the inconvenience. \nPasture Day is a farm favorite! \nAfter inspecting and repairing fence\, the farmers are ready to let the girls out of the barn and into the field. Spring is here! And with winter months in the barn behind them\, the cows will be prancing their way into the green green grass! \nThis event is not to be missed! \nGrab some lunch and some ice cream – and a spot on the hill! The heifers are released at 1:00pm!\nWe’ll be offering free walking farm tours at 11:30am and 1:30pm. Please note we will not accommodate late arrivals! Wear shoes that can get muddy. DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a walking tour of our new Lely Vector automatic feeding system on Sunday\, April 28 at 10am. We will visit the dairy barn to see the Vector. Please note that this is not a full-farm tour\, it is just of our new\, very cool system. \nThis tour will take ~30 minutes. We will begin and end at Barstow’s Dairy Store and Bakery and we will not be able accomodate late arrivals. The tour will leave promptly at 10am. The walking tour takes us up a hill with uneven terrain and ~1/4  mile. Rain or shine\, please dress appropriately for the weather. \nNo reservations are required. Please meet at the top of the stairs on Barstow Lane (across from the drive-thru speaker). The tour is $3/person\, kids under 12 are free\, this tour is geared toward an adult audience. DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a walking tour of our new Lely Vector automatic feeding system on Saturday\, April 27 at 10am. We will visit the dairy barn to see the Vector. Please note that this is not a full-farm tour\, it is just of our new\, very cool system. \nThis tour will take ~30 minutes. We will begin and end at Barstow’s Dairy Store and Bakery and we will not be able accomodate late arrivals. The tour will leave promptly at 10am. The walking tour takes us up a hill with uneven terrain and ~1/4  mile. Rain or shine\, please dress appropriately for the weather. \nNo reservations are required. Please meet at the top of the stairs on Barstow Lane (across from the drive-thru speaker). The tour is $3/person\, kids under 12 are free\, this tour is geared toward an adult audience. You bought a muffin. \nWhether this is your first time visiting\, or you’re at Barstow’s every day\, thank you.\nYour purchases\, great and small\, keep our family farming. DESCRIPTION:Pasture Day is a farm favorite! \nAfter inspecting and repairing fence\, the farmers are ready to let the girls out of the barn and into the field. Spring is here! And with winter months in the barn behind them\, the cows will be prancing their way into the green green grass! \nThis event is not to be missed! \nGrab some lunch or some ice cream – and a spot on the hill! The heifers are released at 1:00pm!\nWe’ll be offering a free walking farm tour at 11:30am. Please note we will not accommodate late arrivals! Wear boots that can get muddy. The walking tour is about 1/4 mile and involves hills and uneven terrain. \nLive music on the porch by Old Country Road\, noon-2pm. Free wagon ride farm tours after the cows are out! Wagon tours end at 3pm so the farmers can get to evening chores on time. \nThis is a free\, family friendly event at your local dairy farm! Hope to see you there!
