TEDxAmherstSalon: Roots

August 22, 2019 @ 6:30 pm

$12

This TEDx event, ROOTS, will focus on the agriculture and sustainability scenes in and around Amherst.

At AmherstWorks, a modern coworking space in the heart of downtown Amherst, we will spend two action-packed hours learning about what the agricultural and sustainable scenes the Pioneer Valley has to offer. There will be finger food catered by The Black Sheep Deli, featured speakers Denise Barstow and Julian Mcclements, goody bags, and networking… all in 2 hours! Doors open at 6:30. Attire is casual.

Our first speaker is Denise Barstow! Her passions lie in community, agriculture, sustainability, nature, and the role we all play in building and maintaining place.

Our second speaker is Julian McClements, Distinguished Professor at the University of Massachusetts and author of a number of books, including Future Foods: How Modern Science is Transforming the Way We Eat.

Only 40 tickets are available. No refunds. Buy tickets here.

Barstow’s Dairy Store and Bakery and Barstow’s Longview Farm is owned and operated by sixth and seventh generation Barstow’s. Nestled at the base of Skinner State Park and right alongside the Connecticut River, the dairy farm has been a part of the landscape since 1806.

Barstow’s Dairy Store and Bakery offers homemade baked goods and pies, lunch from local ingredients, farm fresh produce, farm raised beef, ice cream, and scenic views of protected farmland from the porch and dining room. This family friendly store is open daily year round. Come meet your neighborhood dairy farmer!
