Raisin' the Roof

Longview Farm is building a calf barn!  The new calf facility measures 104' x 34' and will hold 36 calves.  It's been designed to maximize sun exposure and ventilation.  If all goes as planned, its completion is scheduled for Spring 2012.  Please stay tuned, we'll want you to help us celebrate!

Barstow's DS&B is selling Barstow's Absolutley Local Beef and baked goods at The Big Blue Barn on the Swartz Family Farm, located at 11 Meadow Street. The market hours are from 9am-1pm. 


Farm Digester coming to Barstow’s!

Barstow's Longview Farm, along with four other local dairy farms have partnered with Quasar Energy Group and other investors to form AGreen Energy, LLC. The current project will put five methane digesters on farms in Massachusetts. Construction for the digester at Barstow’s Longview Farm is currently happening!!

Open Farm Sunday - Fall Festival

October 16, 2011  (11am - 2pm)

Autumn is finally here!! You know what that means!! … Butternut Squash, Acorn Squash, Carnival Squash, Blue Hubbard Squash, Pumpkins, Apples and Mums!!

Take a wagon ride tour of our farm. Enjoy activities with the kids; pumpkin painting, face painting, and sugar cookie decorating.

Cabot will be here doing a cooking demo. Come down to Barstow’s and try some delicious Cabot Cheese and the many specials we’ll have here made with Cabot Cheese: Tomato Cheddar Soup, Cabot flavored varieties of Mac n’ Cheese ... 
And don't forget the other delicious Autumn treats!! We'll have Pumpkin Pie, Pumpkin muffins and bread, and the famous glazed pumpkin cookies!

Come to Barstow’s Sunday, May 1st at 1PM and watch the heifers take to the front pasture! Take the farm tour, enjoy an ice cream, and meet this seasons moo-ing mascots.



2010 FALL FESTIVAL

Thank you to everyone who came out to our Fall Festival on September 25th. We had a great time painting pumpkins, decorating cookies, listening to Acoustic Brew out on the porch, and taking hayrides around the farm. Hope to see you at our next event.



2ND ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

Thank you, to everyone who made the trip out here on Sunday August 1st to help us celebrate our 2nd anniversary! We had a great time and we hope you all did, too.

We would like to give special thanks to the North Hadley Sugar Shack, Maple Valley Creamery, Hedgies Salsa, The Hadley Fire Department, Appalachian Still, our staff, friends, and family for making the day such a success!

Painter - Jacqueline Brodeur

Jacqueline Brodeur is a member of the Hilltown Plein Air Painters, a group of artists that share the enjoyment of painting and exploring the hill towns and beyond.  Plein air painting combines the appreciation of nature with the artistic process and captures the experience with a painting.  Painting is done on site or finished in the studio from pictures or sketches.

Jackie is drawn to scenes that have local interest, that make our area unique, and celebrate the beauty and history of the hill towns.  She enjoys painting the barns  that bring beauty and character to New England scenery and the animals that inhabit them such as chickens, llamas, cats, and horses.

Jackie has her own studio in Westhampton, MA- Twin Willow Farm Art Studio and she can be reached and her paintings can be viewed at her blog:
